A strict code of confidentiatity is fundamental to our work and all therapists at The Practice work within the ethical code of professional lstandards and conduct as set out within the governing bodies of their professions. Namely UKCP (United Kingdom Council of Psychotherpy), BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), HPC (Health Professionals Council).
Confidentiality is an important component to the therapeutic process as it allows the client to work through and explore their own issues in a truthful and genuine way. Confidentiality also helps to provide a secure and trusting relationshop between the therapist and the client.
NB Breaking confidentiality
Confidentiality will only be broken if either the client requests this, or the therapist has serious concerns about the welfare and safety of the client or believes that others are at risk from the client. In the event of such concerns, the therapist will discuss this with the client but does not require the permission of the client to break confidentiality.
Holidays and breaks in the therapy
Therapists are required to give adequate notice to clients where reasonably possible of holidays and breaks in the therapy.
Sessions are held weekly and are booked in 6 week blocks. A review with the parents/carers together with the child/adolescent is held at week 5.
